What becomes important at this point is to read fast, or rather, read smart. Speed reading is a boon for students, who have a lot to read and not enough time either to prepare for exams or complete assignments. Many speed reading courses are available which allows students to speed up their reading using text books from their curriculum. These courses merge study time and speed reading practice time, making the best possible combination.

Speed reading means a lot for students who have already mastered the art. They believe that it has helped them not only in completing assignments on time but has also helped them during last minute preparation where they could simply glance through topics. Speed reading has also helped students get more time out for other research work and pleasure reading.

Every student in today's world is expected to know beyond the realms of prescribed text books. Speed reading not only ensures speed but with growing comprehension and concentration and a better control of the eye, reading becomes a much more pleasurable activity. Speed reading is very important and study reveals that children tend to learn and pick up things faster than adults and teenagers. This stated, speed reading should find a place in the training program designed for school students at an elementary level. Speed reading can be safely introduced in the study program of children who have gripped the essence of the language and can read using the elementary spelling process (that is by using per word as the unit of reading). By the time students reach high school, they must be able to speed read (at least 800-1000 words per minute) where they completely give up the habits of subvocalisation and re reading and are also able to read complete sentences considering groups of words as units.
