Speed Reading Training - Learn Why You Can Read This Word "Mhecanism"

Speed Reading Training

Research has shown that when we read we hardly spell entire words in our mind. Our brain guesses the words just by looking at them. And reading is just that- half 'reading' and half guessing. Tests reveal that even when letters of a word are jumbled up given the 1st and the last alphabets are intact, the brain reads it just fine.

There are numerous articles on the web that use this technique to prove the method of reading. Here is one of them

This is the same concept speed reading uses. Not spelling every word, but reading by guessing the words. Our brain stores words as pictures and thus a little bit of defacement doesn't affect the guessing work that the brain does while reading. When the above paragraph could be read with that much of defacement, with proper words, the brain can match the exact words and relate to the meaning even faster.

That is the main concept of reading fast, not reading the words as words, but as pictures denoting a certain meaning. To be trained to read fast, one needs to un-learn the initial method of training that we are taught at our elementary level….that is to carefully read every word and understand each word. Speed reading involves quick glancing and understanding of the words and moving ahead with the meaning.

We tend to under estimate our brain and thus we read slowly and often tend to go back and re read since we are not sure if at that speed our brain could grasp the meaning. Trusting our capability is the first step towards training in speed reading.
